Report Details Very High Percentage of Cadets Aware of Sexual Assaults

For decades, thousands of student cadets that attended VMI® suffered from racial and sexual abuse. A newly released investigative report by the New York Post found that the Virginia Military Institute® allegedly "operated freely on a racist and sexually abusive ideology, ruining the lives of thousands of cadets." An extensive 145-page report by an outside law firm also found that "Racial slurs and jokes are not uncommon", and "contribute to an atmosphere of hostility towards minorities”.

An additional survey in the same report detailed that 63% of students stated that a fellow cadet had told them that he or she was a victim of sexual assault while attending VMI®. Although only 23% of students at VMI® are minorities, they account for over 40% of all dismissals since 2011.Those that attended VMI® and suffered from racial or sexual abuse are coming forward to seek justice and compensation.
